Autumn Wind Homeowners Association Fencing Guide, Sammamish
Autumn Wind is a Sammamish neighborhood whose homeowners association publishes its own fencing guidelines (board reviewed 7/25/2011). Those guidelines say no fence may be installed, replaced, or updated on any Autumn Wind lot without prior written approval from the association's Architectural Control Committee (ACC). Fences must be cedar, pressure-treated wood, or composite that looks like wood, built as wood stockade or board-on-board, between 5 and 6 feet high, and never in front yards. MyFence handles the ACC application for the homeowner.
MyFence is not affiliated with Autumn Wind Homeowners Association, is not an approved vendor, and does not speak for the association or its architectural committee. Every association rule on this page comes from the association's own public website, linked below. Associations can change their guidelines, so confirm the current version with the association before you build. Where this page does not cover a detail, check with the association's architectural committee.

Autumn Wind fence approval process
Read the fence guidelines
The guidelines allow cedar, pressure-treated wood, or composite with the look of wood, built as wood stockade or board-on-board. Height must be at least 5 feet at the lowest point and up to 6 feet at the highest. No fences are permitted in front yards, and barbed wire, wire mesh, chicken or hog wire, chain link, metal, and cyclone fences are not allowed.
Mark the fence on your survey
Fence requests go to the ACC with the proposed location marked on a copy of your survey plot. The fence must connect to existing neighboring fences, stay on your lot and out of common areas, and must not block drainage; the guidelines also say fences shall not be installed flush to the ground.
Submit the ACC Approval Form
The association's ACC page says plans should be submitted at least 10 days before the proposed start date, and quotes the CC&Rs on the 30-day review window. Do not start work until you have written approval.
Build and stain to the approved plan
Staining or painting a new color needs written ACC approval first; refreshing the same color or a clear stain does not. Recommended colors are clear, cedar, and redwood tones. Lots on the South Boundary Fence (lots 1, 5–9, 63–68 and 71) have a board-recommended exterior color. King County permit rules are a separate step.
